Basic Life Support Certification

Heart to Heart Academy offers Basic Life Certification Support through the American heart Association. Certification is valid for 2 years and requires re-certification on or before the date it is issued. Basic Life Support (BLS) is a certification that involves 4 hours of training. BLS is a requirement of most clinical health professionals and public safety personnel. It is also requirement for many jobs to include volunteer work, medical/nursing school, lifeguards, coaches, and some teachers.

During this training, you will learn basic life-saving skills to resuscitate, and help a person who is experiencing Cardiac arrest, respiratory difficulty and other life threating illness that require immediate medical attention.

Basic Life Support Re-Certification

BLS re-certification courses allows an individual to update their skills, refresh your memory and extend certification by two years. Intended for those whose credentials are still valid (or within 30 days of expiring), this BLS renewal courses makes it possible to avoid a lapse in certification.

Student must bring valid/current American heart Association BLS card to class.

Certified Nursing Assistant

What is a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)?

Certified nursing assistant is an individual that provides one-on-one care for the sick, elderly and those rehabilitating from illness or injury; under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Certified nursing assistants play an essential role of any health care facility and when performing CNA duties effectively, CNAs can help save lives.

Who needs CNA Training?

  • Any individual interested in entering or applying for nursing school in Colorado must have CNA certification upon starting nursing school.
  • Individuals interested in the medical field and would like to start their career at the entry level.

What does CNA training involve?

CNA course through Heart to Heart Academy is a 4-week course, that is accredited by Department of Nursing (DORA). Curriculum comprises classroom, laboratory and Clinical instruction in covering basic nursing skills, personal care skills, psychological and mental health needs, care of the cognitively impaired, basic restorative services and promotion of client rights.

Topics covered include the following:

  • Taking vital signs.
  • Managing infection control.
  • Transferring a patient from their bed to a chair.
  • Assisting patients with some of their daily living activities (eating, drinking, using the restroom, bathing, brushing their teeth, etc.).
  • Looking after resident safety.
  • Safety in the workplace.
  • Understanding a patient’s cultural and spiritual needs.

After completion of Heart to Heart CNA program, students are approved for CNA state exam. Passing the CNA exam is the last step in becoming a certified nurse aide.

Human Anatomy and Physiology I

Anatomy and Physiology I is the first of a two-course sequence examining the terminology, structure, function, and interdependence of the human body systems. It includes a study of the cells, chemistry, and tissues of the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, and endocrine systems.

Heart to Heart Academy has designed this prep class as a way for student to become familiar with terms, course objections and jump start their learning experience. This is a 2.5-hour course taught by a Nurse Practitioner.

Human Anatomy and Physiology II

Anatomy and Physiology II is the second of a two-course sequence. Human Anatomy and Physiology II focus on the major parts of the body and how they work independently as well as together.

Heart to Heart Academy has designed this prep class as a way for student to build from Human Anatomy and Physiology I and expand in knowledge into critical thinking needed for Human Anatomy and physiology II. This is a 2.5-hour course taught by a Nurse Practitioner.

La certificación es válida por 2 años y requiere una recertificación en o antes de la fecha en que se emite. El Soporte Vital Básico (BLS) es una certificación de 4 horas de capacitación. BLS es un requisito de la mayoría de los profesionales de la salud clínica y el personal de seguridad pública.
